He Said He Preferred the Plain Janes

In my youth, I had a friend
who was incredibly handsome
he probably could have had
boatloads of beautiful girlfriends
but he said he preferred
the plain janes
but his idea of plain janes
were anything but plain
describing them as plain
was a misnomer
to me, his plain janes
were far more appealing
then what he saw as
the beauty queens
besides as many know
the greatest beauty is
within the mind and heart
and not at all plain.

Ghosts in Dusty Old Houses

Hey, if you’re a ghost reading this
what’s up with haunting old houses?

Believe me, where I dead and disembodied
floating around with haunting options

I damn sure wouldn’t be hanging around
a dusty, boring old house

were I up for scaring the bejesus out of people
I’d find a more peopled haunt

maybe a night club with upcoming bands
and the embodied often acting crazy

but since I don’t imbibe spirits in this life
I’d probably find a better haunt

come to think of it, I’d probably float around
the planet and maybe explore other planets

instead of spending who knows how many years
or centuries stuck in a dusty old house.

Saw a Ghost Show on YouTube

A guy who doesn’t, I should write didn’t,
believe in the disembodied
explored an old abandoned house
the air chills, he senses evil
hears manical laughter
the door through which
he entered the house
slams shut with a thud
he cannot suppress his fears
tries to get the hell out of the house
he cannot open the shut door
struggles to open it
with all his strength
afraid he’s going to die
in that house and become
part of that evil
mercifully, he eventually
gets the door open
scrambles out of the house
leaps into the safety of his car
which does not start
zombie like ghosts begin
to approach his car
as his car grinds and whines
and still will not start
as if the spirits have control
over the engine of his car
until it finally starts
and he races far away
from the house never to return
and a believer in the disembodied.

A Minster Murders Two Wives

Saw a YouTube true crime show
about a minster who killed his wive

married a new wife, seemed happy
but eventually killed her too

I know the allegedly devout have killed before
yet it always surprises when the religious kill

you would think they’d fear divine retribution
dying into something like a never ending hell

and I cannot understand how they could kill
why they do not have the inhibitor most have

against murdering another human being
perhaps they are psychopathic in the worst way

no qualms, no feelings, no restraints
taking a life easy, even if religious or a minister.

I Hate to See Abandoned Churches

I’m not a church goer,
but I hate to see abandoned churches
I see many of them in the United Kingdom
in various YouTube videos
old houses of God turned to empty relics
no longer attended, God forgotten
some supposedly have ghosts in them
most are just dusty and empty
some have graveyards around them
or behind them
as if the church members
and the ministers
all died and are buried in those graves
with no children, no new members
to keep those dead churches alive.

A trail of dead prostitutes in his wake
strangled to death in Austria
bodies left in forests
got out of prison early at age 40
had been imprisoned
for murdering a woman
became a famous journalist by day
a serial killer by night
killed prostitutes partly because
his mother had been a prostitute who
abandoned him as a child
probably also because
he was born a psychopath

Remembering Women I Was Romantically Involved With

Woman-less now for years, sometimes I remember
women I was romantically involved with in my life

and damn! for better or for worse, they
sure made my life more interesting

through, laughter, joys, heartaches and tears
they brought fascinating times to my years

and despite the disappointments, the heartaches,
the risks and uncertainties

sometimes, though rarely, I think I’d like to experience
some of those times again

as I remember how wonderful it was to feel a woman’s
tender touch, to see her eyes looking lovingly at me.

An Elk Sucked Up Into a UFO

In 1999, forestry workers claimed to have seen
a UFO hovering over a herd of elk

supposedly one elk got separated from the herd
with the UFO silently, purposely, following it

moments later, the elk got sucked up into the UFO
without any signs of sliding doors or apertures

skeptics believe the forestry workers made the story up
maybe to spoof people who would believe them

I am one of those people who believe them
based on what I read about the sighting

based on all I’ve learned about aliens and many
UFO sightings all over the world.

Dead Women on My YouTube Page

My YouTube page is full of videos of dead women
young women murdered by evil, soulless men
my heart breaks for all these young women
who were often happy in their photos enjoying life
before they were brutally robbed of their precious lives
because all these women being murdered
outrages and saddens me so much
I’ll probably write a hundred more poems about it
I’ll never stop wondering why we have to have
rampant, unrestrained evil in this passing existence
and why young women in nearly incalculable numbers
have to have their lives ended by bloodthirsty monsters
instead of lives free from the horrors inflicted upon them
and I also often wonder hundreds of times or more
where’s the God of love in all of this?

His Girlfriend’s Obsession With Ghosts

His girlfriend was obsessed with ghosts
always watching ghost hunter shows
always reading about ghosts
he felt her obsession was a bit much
in the category of the macabre
especially when as he predicted
ghosts began appearing in their home
her obsession had drawn them in
she was quite elated; he was not
she stayed in the house, happy
he moved out, frightened
unable to be with her and her ghosts
though young, she died months later
he believed killed by the ghosts.
