Heard today that 77 percent
of marriages fail
so if you get married
only 23 percent is your chance
of the nuptials lasting
sometimes I feel I’d like
to find love again
but with 77 percent
of things going awry
if you get married
probably higher if
you don’t get married
it’s no wonder I don’t try
it’s no wonder I don’t go looking
for a 23 percent chance of
a love that lasts instead of
a love that disappoints,
and, at the least,
breaks your hopeful heart.
