Saw a video about a man
who befriended a little
jump spider. He even said
it was cute. I was almost
able to agree with him,
but not quite. I just cant
find spiders cute or
even likeable. I see them
as the creepy crawlies,
and I just don’t like them.
Squeamish though I
might have been, I liked
that jump spider less
when I saw it eating
helpless live tiny insects
the man hand fed it.
But that’s just me.

Twenty city killer asteroids believed to be 460 feet wide
orbiting near Venus could one day strike earth with
the potential to destroy a largely populated area
on Earth, according to scientists.

Mercifully, this swarm of killer asteroids is not a definite
threat and may never collide with Earth, but it is
a threatening possibility. And one more
threatening possibility of the many that hover over us
in this luck of the draw world.

Despairing of her unanswered prayers to God to save her dying husband’s life,
a desperate, at wit’s end, woman calls upon Satan to save his life.

Help arrives almost immediately in the form of a smartly dressed woman who saves her husband’s life.

But as always is the case in tales and movies, dealings with the devil come with consequences.

The once good and kind husband becomes an evil man in a body without a pulse
Miraculously, he doesn’t kill anyone but almost does with the smartly dressed woman’s urgings.

A religious friend saves him with words and prayers and he extracts himself from the evil smartly dressed woman’s tenacious hold on him.

My takeaway from the movie is be wary of dealings with devils or sketchy people.

Some people seem addicted to attention.
I’m not saying that’s a bad thing; it’s just
how they are wired.

I’m wired differently. I don’t like a lot of
attention.

I’d be uneasy were I known all over the
Internet like some people have become

often through hard work and successful
self promotion, not easy to do.

Worse, some through scandalous behavior
or posting something that backfired and

got them Internet breaking attention
that mortified them.

I’m happier with being obscure and
unknown in my soul-satisfying seclusion.

days fading faster
nights getting shorter
accelerating his life
away

he’s reached a point
where he’s become
indifferent to it all

and if death means
he’ll be obliterated
into nothingness

he’s okay with that

Had a dream that I had red suede shoes
and a woman liking them.

In the dream, I didn’t know her well,
and I wasn’t really attracted to her.

But she kind of forced her attention on me,
and she wanted to go see a new apartment

I just rented in another city. I started thinking maybe
it would be nice

to be with a woman for a while again; it’s been
a decade since I’ve gone anywhere with one.

But then she began dominating my time, planning
the day with things I didn’t want to do.

And I wasn’t looking forward to spending time with
her, but I agreed to it, so I was obligated.

I woke up and realized that even though it seemed real,
it was all just a dream, and I was so relieved.

What a scene from the 1942 movie, Cat People,
when the moment a woman and a man open
the door to a pet store, all the pets go crazy.

Moments earlier, the man had bought the
woman a cat that hissed at her as though
she were a monster, and you knew then
that she was

by the reaction of the cat who gets along
with the man. And when the woman says
cats don’t like her, you knew there was
far more to the cat’s reaction.

You know it even more when she steps into
the pet store to exchange the cat for
another pet and all the animals freak out with fear.

This told me her evil monster wattage was
high voltage, and that she was going to be
the dual persona of pretty woman and
evil cat monster in the movie.

Great scene. Great set up for diabolical things
to come later in the movie. Hats off to whomever
conjured up that frantic, frightful scene.

Imagine a fierce dog with three heads
guarding the gates of Hades to prevent
doomed souls from escaping.

An imaginative creation of Greek mythology
that must have literally scared the hell out
of people who believe in Cerberus.

A dangerous dog with one head is scary
enough.

Imagine a snarling pit bull with three heads.
But truth be known, Cerberus seemed
even scarier than that.

Maybe the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree is
more predictive of behavior

in many, but not all, people more than known.

Or maybe genetics for the most part has little effect on
the outcome of a person’s behaviors and actions.

I have seen the like father like son in some people,
but, mercifully, I have seen the opposite in many
sons and daughters of evil people.

But if those in whom genetics seems to predispose
them to bad behaviors that result in prison time,
I have to wonder if they are totally responsible
for their antisocial behaviors –

as if they are compelled beyond their control to
to lead self destructive lives and reap the punitive
effects all of their lives.

She became addicted to posting tidbits and
pictures of herself on social media

and consumed with seeing all the views
everyday, sometimes every hour.

Her obsession with social media took
over her entire life.

She thought about it day and night
and lived for the views.

Perhaps she had low self esteem
and all the attention was an

attempt to boost it and assuage
her inferior feelings.

There are those who believe
aliens are among us

as if somehow they morphed
into looking exactly like us.

I supposed an advanced race
of aliens would have the

technology to replicate our race,
but I just can’t believe it.

I’m living in an old body
It’s time is running out
It’s nearing its expiration
From this earthly life
One glorious day
I’ll leave this old vessel
And fly like a bird
Into a greater life

An old abandoned church in the middle of
nowhere in Wales
Flat grave stores from the 1700 and 1800s
Stone walls, stone floors inside
Old wooden pews and benches
Unreadable writing etched on a wall
A single cross standing on a table
An ornate lecture not far from it
A dilapidated organ in a corner
A man named Dylan found signs of
Paranormal activity there
With scientific instruments
Signals, words, and sentences
From the unknown beyond
Maybe some of the deceased
Parishioners still linger there

I thought she was the sweetest woman
I’d ever met

She had an angelic face and always
said nice things

But after I’d been involved with her
for a while

Her demons emerged out of the
dark corners of her soul

and life with her became an
insufferable hell

until I escaped with my mind and
soul barely intact

from her unending inferno of
hurtful words and mean comments

Never seen you in
real life

Don’t know if you
were real or
imaginary

One thing I know
for certain

You were incredibly
nice

It seemed we could
have had a
romantic relationship

But I know as
always happens
when I have a
dream about a
woman

I’ll never see
you again

From the beginning,
they knew they were
meant for each other

Everything in common
liked the same music
enjoyed each others
jokes

Fell in love
immediately
Got married
all went
well

Years past

Boredom set in

Little things about
each other annoyed
them

Starting hating
each other

Until

Love flew away
and so did they

She had a feeling she shouldn’t get on the plane that
day. She had had a dream about a plane that crashed.

But she had to get to an important business meeting
too far away to drive to and get there on time.

Nervously, she boarded the plane and felt it was
going to crash every time it hit a jarring air pocket.

But the flight arrived safely at her destination, and
later that day she saw in the news a plane crashed

at the airport an hour after her flight had landed,
the airplane crash she had seen in her dream.

She Had a Way with Animals

Paula had a certain magnetism with animals
dogs and cats always approached her on the
streets as if she were a long lost friend.

My dog, Bo, liked her more than me despite
the fact that I was the one who fed and housed
Bo and rescued him from a dog pound.

But the most amazing example of Paula’s
animal magnetism was when we when
camping in upstate New York and a family
of deer gathered around her as if she were
one of them.

But ran off when the saw me, and I don’t
even hunt. Foolish as it was, I felt a little
jealous of Paula’s gift with animals that
day.

But I was as drawn to her as the animals
and chided myself for being jealous of
Paula’s incredible charisma with animals.
