Never Imagined

Never imagined you could
levitate so effortlessly, Big.
I’m impressed with that feat
(no pun on foot intended).
Is there no limit to your
paranormal abilities?
And tell me true, are
you interdimensional
or do you appear and
disappear through portals?

Woe to Passivity’s Folly

Passivity, Passivity, what have you done to your country?
That had such a rich history starting around 12,000 BC.
Once the Queen of faraway lands, an envy of the world,
peaceful people, beautiful women, breathtaking sights.
Passivity, Passivity, you allowed yourself to be overrun
with unending, unchecked hordes of invading migrants.
Guests ungrateful for your warm, welcoming generosity
that didn’t share or appreciate your country’s rich culture,
a country once one of the most peaceful on the planet,
and brought with them unimagined crime and strife.

Now your renowned heavenly haven has gone to hell.
Your women are raped. Your cities are crime-ridden.
The peace is destroyed, replaced with havoc and violence.
Essentially you have been conquered and diminished.
your glory days beyond restoration, gone forever.
Passivity, Passivity, it all should have been obvious,
but you let your misguided politics and destructive policies
bring your country, your culture, and your past glories down.
It saddens my heart remembering the country you once were.

The Preacher Said if You Didn’t Follow Jesus It Was Hell for You

I never could believe that an infinite God would be so small as to refuse admittance to only a select following.

I never could believe devout followers of other religions would be denied the ear and the grace of God and sent to hell.

I never could believe a tribe of natives living far from the world in some undiscovered habitat would be sent to hell without having a prayer of hearing of Christ.

I never could believe a child born incapable of understanding a word of Christianity let alone accepting Christ would be sent to hell.

I never could believe a young man or woman raised in horrendous circumstances who made bad choices that led to criminality, death by a drug overdose or a suicide, would be sent to hell.

And, frankly, I never could believe in the eternal damnation of a hell or a God that would condone it.

But I am a believer in and a follower of Christ, but not as an only way or out of fear of going to a hell and not so dogmatically as to believe Christ is the only way.

And not as a member of any church. I refuse to be controlled or abide by mostly man made rules of man made churches.

And I see Christ more as a Cosmic Christ, a personal, approachable part of the infinite Absolute that the acceptance of can affect profound changes in a person’s life. I write this not as theory or belief, but from direct experience.

Love is Like a Toss of the Dice

According to a 2025 Forbes article, 43% of people married for the first time get divorced. And the percentages are 60% for second marriages and 73% for third marriages.

Factor in all the the relationship break ups that never make it to marriages, and love is like a toss of the dice.

And love can seem like a gambling casino where the odds are always stacked in favor of the house, where the dice is loaded, and the addicted gamblers usually keep playing and losing.

ADCs, Seeing Dead People in Dreams, and Houdini

I’m not a psychic. I’m not a seer. I don’t have second sight,
but I have seen two dead people in dreams, ADC’s, After Death Communications.

One was an old friend that I wrote a poem about, Mike McHugh.
The other was Black Elk, a Lokata Medicine Man. I wrote a poem about that ADC dream too.

Examples of ADCs: Dreams of the deceased. Symbols related to the dead person, like a fictional poem I wrote about bluebirds, a perfume a woman who passed away wore, sounds, touches, voices, flickering lights and probably more.

Here’s an example of a perfume ADC. A woman I worked with was cleaning out her recently deceased mother’s house when suddenly she was surrounded with the scent of the perfume her mother always wore.

Unfortunately the ADC frightened her and she ran out of the house and I don’t know if she ever went back.

To me, ADCs are confirmations of life after death, but here’s a case of an ADC that never happened which puzzles me:

The famous magician Houdini made a pact with his wife that if he died before her he’d try to communicate with her from the afterlife.

Years and decades passed, but he never succeeded in breaking out of the afterlife and communicating with his wife despite being able to break out of nearly anything when he lived.

It’s as if Everything Causes Cancer

It seems nearly everyday we hear of something else that can cause cancer.
It seems like we’re running out of options for avoiding it.
Even the sun can be a source of it. And by the way, beware of the sun as you grow older. Better to take D3 and limit your sun exposure.
Kind of like the saying an idle mind is the Devil’s playground, older skin is the sun’s cancerous playground.

And did you know men are prone to getting skin cancer on their ears?
It’s because men don’t usually wear their hair long enough to cover their ears and protect them from the sun.

I constantly read in the news of more and more young people getting cancer.
Many of them appear to be doing all the right things to prevent getting it.
Sometimes it is as if cancer is close to winning in eventually killing all of us.

The good news is newer and better treatments keep being developed.
But it wouldn’t surprise me if one day I read the air we breathe is found to cause cancer,
and more and more it seems like it’s in everything.

Bigfoot in Texas

Hiking near the Rio Grande
And had my Clock 20 handy
In case some big unhinged bear
Charged at me out of his liar
The day was quiet and peaceful
Being in nature felt so blissful
Suddenly something was afoot
I turned around and saw Bigfoot
He said to me, “Are you okay?”
I froze too scared to run away
And too scared to pull out my glock,
Too frightened to shoot, and in shock.
Lost my mind, passed out completely
Came to with Bigfoot over me
Looking as big as an oak tree
He helped me up from the ground
Smiled and asked me to hang around
Said okay since he meant no harm
His manner as soothing as balm
We talked and he said crazy things
Like there were aliens with wings
Then all of a sudden he sings
Becomes an alien with wings.
And said it’s time for me to go
And down came a big UFO
He got in it and waved goodbye
And disappeared into the sky.

This is What Real Love is All About: Forget About the Hollywood Versions

Her once incomparably gorgeous looks have faded
so much she looks like just another elderly woman.
Her once beautiful blonde hair has turned an aged gray
and isn’t as abundant and radiant.
Her once smooth velvety skin is now old, wrinkled,
and dotted with age spots.
Her once perfectly trim figure is no longer trim,
laden with a little age-related body fat.
But he loves her even more than when she was
young and perfect.
And he’s no longer young either, and no longer
handsome and perfect.

Little Jack Horner

When Little Jack Horner had grown into a man,
one day he sat in a corner of a grocery store
eating a plum pie he ripped off from the bakery.

When he pulled out a plum and claimed he was a good lad,
Store Security caught the theft on a store security camera.

They hauled that bad boy off to the pokey where he spent 30 days and then 30 more for stealing an inmate’s peach pie.

When Jack was sprung from the pokey, he went back to the grocery store and stole ten more pies, got busted again, and had to appear before a judge in court.

Because the judge thought Horner, a repeat pie stealing offender, was clinically nuts,
instead of putting Jack back in the pokey, he sentenced him to a mandatory year of psychological counseling.

A year later Jack Horner was miraculously cured of his pie stealing obsession.

And this might be only coincidental, but the manager at the grocery store where Jack Horner stole all the pies from, now can’t account for all the missing cookies.

Happy Trails

I heard you went looking for cowboys in Galveston.
Yee haa! Glad you’re no longer in my rodeo.
I wish you the best in your new roundup.
Happy trails to you and never come back.
You stole from me and always eyed others.
You thought I’d put up with your shenanigans.
But this old ironworker is harder than that,
And you made my heart hard as my steel hat.
So go mess with those cowboys, play your games,
Like the one you played so damn sneakily
When you disrespected and cheated on me.

The Power in a Woman’s Touch that a Man Finds Attractive

I remember a year ago
when an attractive woman
grabbed my arm gently
while passing by me.

It wasn’t a romantic thing;
she had no intentions,
and I acted unaffected.
But oh what a feeling,
sent my senses reeling.

I hadn’t felt a woman’s
gentle touch in years
and had forgotten
about the power in
a woman’s touch
that a man
finds attractive.

Witchery in Greensboro Park After Dark

Met her in Greensboro Park after dark
Fearless, she approached me first.
Surprised, I couldn’t believe
She was so utterly unafraid
In the scary darkness of Greensboro Park.
What if I were a rapist or a serial killer?

Dressed in a black cloak and a pointy hat,
Her fashion sense an eccentricity.
She started talking about the weather
I liked the sound of her melodious voice.
Her river of words mesmerized me.
As she kept talking about the weather,
I felt myself slipping dreamily away.

Then her words became letters in clouds
and I tranced out and lost consciousness.
I woke up alone, her and my wallet gone.

Women Go to Doctors for Every Little Thing

Women go to doctors for every little thing.
Wasting all their money on doctors – ka-ching.
Men avoid doctors like drinking a poisoned brew,
And doctors will only find something wrong with you.

Better to get as sick as a vomiting dog
And croak but not exactly like a croaking frog.
And when you’re dead and no doctor is billing you,
You’ll have saved bundles and bundles of money too.

Guns, Bullets, Monks, Mantras and Supernatural Powers

When I was steeped in Eastern spiritual practices
and read about the legendary Tibetan Monks,
it was believed they were the most advanced adepts
possessing limitless supernatural powers.

I believed that when China invaded Tibet the
monks were so preternaturally powerful they
could chant mantras that would cloud the minds
of the advancing Chinese soldiers and erect a
psychic force field they could not pass.
But, alas, Chinese guns and bullets were more
powerful than mantras and supernatural powers.

Born in Deformed Bodies

People born with tragically deformed bodies
what in creation is the point of that?

Why are some born so disadvantaged
when most are not?

A person once told me God
doesn’t make mistakes

but perhaps nature is a saboteur
that like a devil sabotages God’s perfect works.

I don’t know why some people suffer
such disadvantaged fates.

I don’t believe it’s a karmic justice
they rightfully deserve.

And I wonder what happens to these
people when they die.

I write that thinking of a bigger picture
like when I read that blind people who

have near death experiences see
when they are clinically dead.
