In his teenage years he was trouble
kicked out of school many times
at age 21 he had a spiritual awakening
and became a monk in India

He’s an old man in hospice dying
a few minutes before he dies
he sees his deceased wife
waiting for him in the afterlife

She always got drunk at bars
At 2am one night she stumbled out of one
and fell into a serial killer’s web

Most cats in the Philippines are feral
there’s no pampering for them
they scrounge for food in the streets
theirs is a hard luck life

Friends said he could do better
she wasn’t pretty enough for him
but his friends could not see
how beautiful she was beyond her face

loved the money at first
got bored without love
left him for a true love

There’s a werewolf after me
I always hear him howling
I hope like in the movies
a silver bullet will kill him

heating up my part of the world
heat seeping into my apartment
the whir of my fans spinning

like a bomb detonating inside of me
her weapon of mass destruction
a devastating heart-seeking no

fought nearly every night like cats and dogs
It was no surprise when in the summer of 1977
the wife scratched her husband’s eyes out
