I hear the werewolf’s howls coming closer to me
I hope I’m safe in my home with the doors barred
in case my home is not werewolf-proofed enough
I have holy water and wolfsbane just in case

My free verse poems
I hear the werewolf’s howls coming closer to me
I hope I’m safe in my home with the doors barred
in case my home is not werewolf-proofed enough
I have holy water and wolfsbane just in case

As a teenager I worked in a greenhouse
with a younger Puerto Rican kid who believed in diablo
I didn’t; he said go in the woods at night and call him
he got the best of me, no way was I going to tempt fate

while an outdoorsy woman is roaming
my indoorsy one will be loving me

I saw a guy in a documentary who had a lifesize doll as his wife
he treated her like a real wife and seemed quite happy
and I can sort of see some of the benefits he had
no arguments no cheating no divorce no toilet seat hassles

She was my first love and we were going to get married
teenagers living far apart in different states
I was sure her heart was true as well as her promises
until she met another guy and left me for him

she also had an annoying husband
the lamb was easier to get along with
so she got rid of the husband and kept the lamb

from a fall down a stairs
now she’s a residual ghost
still walking down those stairs
